HIV-Test
At the Checkpoint you can receive anonymous counselling and can get tested for HIV.
An HIV test can give you reliable information about your HIV status 6 weeks after your last risk situation. The blood samples are sent to Unilabs, Laboratory for Medical Analysis, 3008 Bern for analysis.
We offer both, rapid HIV tests and laboratory tests. Both tests are combined HIV 1 and 2 antibody tests of the 4th generation, which also detects the p24 antigen.
If required, we can advise you on risk behaviour and protection strategies.
What is the earliest I can take an HIV test?
Our tests can provide initial results at the earliest 2 weeks after a risk situation.
You will receive a reliable result 6 weeks after the risk situation.
With an HIV home test, you will receive a reliable result 12 weeks after the risk situation.
