HIV-Test
At the Checkpoint you can receive anonymous counselling and be tested for HIV.
We offer both rapid HIV tests and laboratory tests. Both tests are combined HIV 1 and 2 antibody tests of the 4th generation, which also detect the p24 antigen. An HIV test at our centre can give you reliable information about your HIV status 6 weeks after your last risk situation.
If necessary, we can advise you on risk behaviour and protection strategies.
When can I take an HIV test at the earliest?
Our tests can provide their first results at the earliest 2 weeks after a risk situation. However, a reliable result is only available 6 weeks after the risk situation. In the case of an HIV home test available in retail stores or pharmacies, the result can only be considered reliable 12 weeks after the risk situation.
What to do after an HIV risk?

What is the difference between the rapid test and the laboratory test?
The rapid HIV test provides a reliable result within twenty minutes. In contrast, a laboratory test takes around three days until you receive the result.
